Maryland Man Who Robbed 5 Pennsylvania Banks Sentenced: Usdoj

A man has been sentenced after committing five bank robberies in Adams, Cumberland, and York Counties in under four months just two months after spending over a decade in a Maryland State Prison, according to an updated release by the US Department of Justice on Monday, Feb. 5.

James Henderson Bryant III, 46, of Westminster, Maryland, was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Thursday, Feb. 1, the USDOJ detailed in the release. 

Bryant stole approximately $28,823 during the five robberies, which are as follows as Daily Voice previously reported:

  • July 19, 2021 - BB&T Bank, Hanover, PA $3,026
  • Aug. 9, 2021 - BB&T Bank, Gettysburg, PA $8,670
  • Aug. 30, 2021 - BB&T Bank, Spring Grove, PA $8,710
  • Sept. 22, 2021 - Citizens Bank, Dillsburg, PA $6,206
  • Oct. 5, 2021 - Citizens Bank, Carlisle, PA $2,211

His crime spree began just about two months after he was released from a 13-year stay in a Maryland State Prison, United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam explained. 

In addition to his 14-year prison sentence, Bryant must pay back BB&T and Citizens banks the full amount he stole and he will serve five years of probation following his release, as stated in the release. 

Angell Dawn Peacher, age 34, of Westminster, Maryland, was also charged with aiding and abetting Bryant’s commission of the October 5, 2021, bank robbery, the initial release stated. An update on her case has not been made.
